I Was Spanked
Dr Tara,
Thought I would drop a line and thank you for expressing your views on spanking. I was, as was my wife, spanked as a child. Nothing that I would refer to as abuse.
I'm a 27 year old man with a beautiful wife and two great kids. Ethan (2) and Madison (1). I was one who thought "It's just a spanking, or a swat on the buns." After listening to your shows about spanking, you could consider me a born again.
I find myself in a constant struggle to become a "better" parent. I don't want to show my kids that hitting is the answer to anything...
If you could share any information or hints on other possibilities for punishing. I found that time outs help a lot.
