Intervention follow by family member
Dr. Tara,
"Thank you" just isn't enough for what you did for my entire family yesterday but especially for me. I know you were hand picked by God and the Universe to be our Interventionist. For the first time, I believe I realized how really sick my daughter Gina was and how I had passively played a part in supporting her addiction all these years.
She did make it to Florida and that also was a "hand picked" place for her and I know she will do well there and I will ONLY support her recovery and NEVER her addiction again. It's all up to her right now and I also spoke to my daughter DeeAnn this morning and she and I along with her husband Joseph are going to get some counseling for our family to deal with the effects Gina's addiction has had on all of us. We all need healing and understanding and strength to deal with what has happened to our family because of Gina's addiction. You were the "right person" for me to really "hear" and "get"what I was doing in her addiction. Your gentle, kind loving spirit was just what I needed and even my daughter DeeAnn said that you were the perfect person for me to relate to and I know that was no accident.
I am grateful and blessed to have such a loving family and support system in my life and I know we will love and nurture Gina until she can love herself again (or maybe even truly for the first time in her life.)
Thank you again for being there for us. I will NEVER forget you and hopefully will get to talk to you and maybe even see you again sometime. (If we lived closer, you would definitely be getting an invitation to "Pasta Sunday" and we would have a blast.
